Podcast Pandering

By: Jonathan Seidel

Podcasts moguls and corporate media: trump tucker and corona.

Podcasting has become more common in recent years. Individuals writing their own programs. Researching independently of the classical main forums. Distrusting the media and seeking an alternative. A new age for new change.

Podcasting is a unique forum on social media that garners its own independence. A focus beyond mainstream bogus. The non-aligned donations permits a desired alternative to the present condition. The public has been at the mercy of media news. Compelled to listen to the jargonist demons spewing their own narratives. Reading personal feelings off a teleprompter. Reduced to a mitigated procedural affect. Spinning a story the desired route. Embellishing the narrative that makes them look good. That inquires of little from the viewer. A recorded echo chamber of monolithic content. Unable to exceed the media capabilities.

Viewers believe the news media. It is only from podcasting that nuance has returned. News media evidently favour one side of the political aisle. Knowing the bias also confirms their storytelling. It is not only electoral or governmental inquires but narratives that fit the presidential campaign. Beyond the partisanship they deceive the public as their voice. Reporters are no longer street walkers hounding politicians for answers. They sit in their renovated studios spewing governmental cover-ups. The industrial protection of the political landscape diminishes genuine journalism. Yet this exposure was due to scepticism and independent research. Enveloped in the culture war and patriotic pose stuns the viewer into submission. The news is gratifying and educational. Political siding considers the media as a friend rather than a foe. Tricking viewers through false linkage. Playing to their weakness and sympathies to retain following.

Much of the viewer base is the older folk. Folks who grew up on television. Especially middle-aged parents neglected in their youth. Finding a trusted friend in the television. Living through the switch from newspapers to anchors. This is not to say that newspapers do not lie either. They commit the same sins but do so with their age not their imagery. The NYT is a revered paper for its adequate reporting for a century. FOX is revered for its adequate reporting visually. The viewer feels his problems are being heard even wise they obviously aren’t. Caring more about political banter than actual social issues. To take a contemporary example. People are more concerned about gifting Ukraine billions of dollars to rebuild yet the detractors fail to argue that the money could solve homelessness. It is not about using or not but rather where it goes. The partisan debates between media groups concerns the do or donts not the redirection or the alternatives.

No media was anti-war. Most Americans felt they were in the right. News groups defamed public citizens without recourse. Hysteria to protect Washington goons. Calling anti-war advocates un-American and bad people. All the while failing to actually investigate the war. Rarely reporting on the bombings and murders abroad. Tainting the narrative in the patriotic favour. Dismissing criticism and alternatives. It is the podcasters who have routed out this evil. Podcasters who have lectured the horror war stories hidden by the media. The media used to be the intermediary between the world and the people. Researching and referencing events. They are the voice of the people and yet have abandoned them so quickly. They acted as false prophets bringing in idolatry to the masses. Corrupting them with dubious infighting and disastrous strife. Podcasts have ascended to the new middleman. Refusing to accept media narratives and searching for the lies behind the veil of corruption.

Podcasts do not play to any strict binary. It is a larger array than any corporate group can attest. Finding more nuance for the average person. Dealing with issues beyond the media scape. Unable to contend with the binary. Writing independently for a specific audience. It is not solely political fire but socio-economic parables. While podcasts do provide news warranted for the political aisle much of it inhales a credible division from talking heads off a corporate teleprompter. Even if there are two conservative groups, the podcast de-corporatised has more veracity. It is the free space without the thumbprint of billionaire investment. A deal that allows a variety of voices and even dialectical ones on the same platform. It enumerates a style of autonomy nested with libertarian motifs. The anti-elitist stand remains strong.

In time podcasts seemingly stagnate in their position. The once malleable-ish mentality has stalled, The nuance though recognisable against the mainstream is deluded into oblivion. The stagnation prompts questions of oscillation and pandering to an audience. Preaching for views. Accepting investments from elites for control. How long till podcasts are eclipsed? Till they are compromised? It depends on the host. The podcaster himself is necessary. It is his own creation. Can they remain open-minded once they get big? Will they always stand for the people? Will they stay genuine news? Podcasting is young and yet some of these fears have rang true already. The viewer is at the mercy of the researcher. Trusting in their reporting. Yet at least the multiplicity allows for more potential nuance. It is not automatic but instead of the few monopolies there is a greater diversion of diversity. Incomplete but a stronger model.

Who do you trust? No one! A nice postmodern twist on it all. There is much going around related to the spectacle of views. Honesty is at an all-time low, integrity muddled. Instead of trusting one source or many sources, the truth is somewhere in between. So for the war, there is a part that is right and a part that is wrong. A great scepticism is necessary even of new podcasts. Their platforms should be scandalised. With enough autonomic analysis the truth can be found. It is on the individual to seek the truth for themselves. No longer can the truth be trusted from the mouth of the prophet. The prophet has lied. He has deceived the masses. The masses must break the spell binding them. Desire the truth and make it happen. Act to overcome the troubles. Fight back with all fibre. Do not accept solely from mass hysteria. Investigate and decide for the self. Some individuality is required and some energy exerted.
