Sipping The Prestige

By: Jonathan Seidel

Varieties of symbolic interpretation: lavish religious wine

Wine is historically symbolic in many regards as a model of elite utility. It’s effortful creation and cognitive ramifications dually place it in a specific area. Wine acts as a special beverage for the tip of the iceberg. Differing by society and yet has incredible consequences for the perceptive society.

Beginning with religious societies, Christianity uses wine in the transubstantiation process of deifying Jesus. Wine is sacramental to the ritualistic progression. For Catholics, during this ritual the wine becomes or resembles the blood of Christ. Other Christians permit drinking but forbid drunkenness. Similarly, Islam prohibits drinking wine describing it as the work of Satan. Wine is sacramental but in the opposite regard. It is forbidden for its devilish ramifications. For Jews, wine is necessary for sacred rituals. There is even a sacred day to get drunk. Religious spheres both concern wine as a sentimental piece to their values. Wine is either a luxury form to sanctify or to revere. Alongside the divine doctrinal model, wine’s creation and consequence act as their imparted message.

Monarchs feasted with wine at their lavish parties. Days-on-end drinking till their minds fainted from mental exhaustion. Some monarchs challenged guests to out-drink them to demonstrate their manhood. Wine was a gift for the kingdom. A beverage for the wealthy and ruling class. An expense the average individual could not afford nor saw it as necessary. The working class was too busy working and drinking would muddle his efforts. Drinking affords loads of labor and thus costs a multitude. Manpower only compensated by rich aristocrats. Yet the wealthy feasts were headed by the ruler. His centerpiece gave him priority. A demonstration of status and power.

Today, wine is affordable to most democratic citizens. The capitalist market has procured vast different wineries with a collection of wines from cheaper ones to expensive ones. The aging of wine is generally the barometer of price. Nevertheless anyone can buy wine at their local delivery store. The availability of wine enables people to take part in an ancient elitist party. Most do not think this way. The easy routine of purchasing from the market affects the desire to consume it. There are wives who drink a cup of red wine in the evening or pouring a glass for a meal with friends. Yet both differ from men who will drink beer in the evening and at a barbecue. Cheap wine may even be used for cooking as it has become acquainted with the grocery aisle. Supermarkets market wine as a grocery commodity instead of wine stores that try to salvage its prestige.

Prohibition acted as an attempt to limit wine consumption. Less alcohol less disorienting behavior less devilish influence and less danger. Black markets fueled and religious communities were given exceptions that they readily abused.  Nonetheless the ban lasted for a decade. Alcohol was a joyous substance. Yet perceived in the deepest disaster. Alcohol can lead to drunk driving disorderly conduct and other felony actions. Under the influence is dangerous. Yet the rule was not that one could not drink that much but they could not be sold. Alcohol could be drunk but this would raise flags of its origin. People moved to their houses and focused more on sacramental wine than brewed beer. The social shifts manifested a varied dogmatic vision of America.

Wine is to French identity as beer is to American identity. Yet wine plays a pivotal role in personal encounter. Wine is more prestigious than beer. It is more expensive and dined with more dignity. Wine has this prestige because of the historical notions. With everyone able to attain it did not negate its underpinnings. The poor can afford but it is yet inferior to beer. Beer is the alcohol of the layman. A drink at the pub or with the boys watching the ball game. It is celebratory but less politely so. Wine is for the diligent and pompous. In overthrowing the polite wine raging beer has taken centerstage as the nation’s art.

Scotch has taken a hold of business outlets. The esteemed suit wearing lawyer will carry a whisky in his office. At the bar he may quickly order a scotch still in his businessman mindset but once descended into the pub scene a little impaired will move to beer. Beer is the other non-business style drink. A beverage of cheap layman. A drink anyone can partake and party. Scotch is for the super prestigious. It has cheapened over the years but it still paves its way as a blazer drink. Still, festivities will call upon wine. Wine has its feminine wiles but it is a manly beverage. It does hold strong to the highest class of business and relaxation.

It is the slow consumption of wine at a lavish restaurant. Each alcohol has its places and time. Wine is more flexible. It historically has expanded to all places whether social or religious atmosphere. A model of the gods practiced on earth. Wine is savored and complimented. It is controlled and cooled. Relying on the relaxing scene of the ideological oeuvre.

Just Enjoy The Game

Statistics positional thinking and mistranslation

Sports statistics are a perfect example of misconstrued evaluation. At face value it seems the most simple way of evaluation. Whoever has the best numbers must be the best player. Yet little context is provided. A semantic reading of persistent quantity says little about the complexity of the scenario.

For starters, there are numerous narratives that complicate the situation. Whether it be the era, the opponents’ ability, game pace or rules. Cross-generational players have reoccurring debates. Analysts enjoying the intense jargon hurled in support of one player over another. Since they never played against one another it is a bunch of bogus sprung on one another. The hypothetical is narcissistically animated in dramatic hollowness. There is no way of knowing. Conjuring potential outcomes is guesswork with probabilities as our best bet.  Dreaming of these profound matchups that can never happen. It is the starstruck analyst debacles that raise a genuine humorous response from the audience. Yet its continuous controversy only fuels tedious self affirming pride. The greatest conversation is an opinionated fortune that needlessly garners overemphasis.

Numbers are the clearest metric to measure a player. This is not solely a sports phenomenon. The model to grasp a student’s knowledge is to test him. Formulating an exam of knowledge bits throughout the semester, long lecturing will be examined in a spit back format. Yet nuanced as the questions do not mirror the class format. Bullet pointed in equivalent application to recall and spill it on a piece of paper. Evaluating a student’s progress and internalisation is in their memorial capability and fluid application. A number that decides their fate and future. All in the hands of a hopefully generous educator. In sports, progress is similarly likened. A player’s excellence is projected by their ability to rack up stats. A player with little quantity is deemed a bad player. Minute accolades is a display of inferior play.

A difficulty in equating cross-generational players is also with students. Not all are created equal. Different eras brings more competition, better teachers and more information. Different styles affect the outcome. The internet provides easier access but also more data to consume. Never beforehand classes are taught on coding and cybersecurity. Technology is a double-edged sword. There are pros and cons for the student as well as for the athlete. Better medical supplies but more athletic players. In this regard, numbers are inflated today due in part to the medical advances and athletic abilities. More competition and support in their youth. Players are prolonging their careers and maintaining excellence past their prime. Yet these are not the sole reasons for stat inflation. They are but a consequence of technological advancement. A parcel of the larger equation. These two factors alone are more advantageous to the current player than ever possible for a past player.

While I am not aware of soccer evolution. Humanity did not evolve to withstand better conditions biologically in the past ten years but instead created technology that aids in achieving that threshold. Meaning it wasn't that players became bigger evolutionarily but new advances demonstrated the ability to cultivate bigger bodies. Bigger frames and faster strides are routine training regimens. A novelty unheard of decades ago. Skill is definitely important but athletic ability remains a talent scoring high marks. Better training will produce better results for the committed bunch. This advantage holds true as a stronger faster individual will be able to reach elite status quicker and more efficiently than the inept individual years ago. Though skilled, his faltering health sours his longevity but even seasonal ability is marred by inability to consistently show up if his training is not of the current model. While he may maintain greatness temporarily in the long run his body will begin to crumble. The pressure will overwhelm his bodily capability.

Talented individuals even if they do not possess the contemporary technological training should bulldoze their opponents. The current advances are open for everyone. While there are more athletic individuals today, that is a group in constant competition. A fair fight against one’s era. Success against opponents under the same conditions is fair. If both are running on their respective criteria then while total numbers may be at a loss, yearly will not necessarily. This a good start to recognising the limitations placed in various ages but it fails to accommodate the additional factors to the overall equation. The three point shot was not a priority until recently and has taken the game by storm. The number of possessions has skyrocketed and defence lacking. Rule changes and game pace are often unnoticed postulates. They make a big difference. While the amount of high scorers may be a landslide to past decades the high game scores also make up for it. At the end of day this must be scrutinised to its full data. Thirty points today may have been twenty ten years ago.

Todays NBA is nicknamed position-less basketball and yet positional thinking still remains. While most teams are looking for a big man who can shoot threes and agile enough to keep up with smaller players it does not change the intuitive positional thinking that still remains. The assist leaders are point guards and rebounding leaders are centers. It less the number and more the way one plays. James is a facilitator. While he scores many points he dishes many of his passes. Not to say he is pass first but he looks to move the offence. Bryant and Jordan had stretches playing point guard where they put up astonishing numbers. Bryant had multiple double-double assist numbs and Jordan put up thirty point triple-doubles in ten of eleven games. They both put up incredible stat lines. With the ball in one’s hand for that much time making the decisions, they will put up those numbers and honestly still may not win. Stats does not equal success. How one plays determines their splash of numbers.

Advanced statistics attempt to get beyond the simple categories marred by many of the inadequacies mentioned. Two classic advanced metrics are assist to turnover ratio and PER. The first is that turnovers is any loss of the ball. A player who handles the ball consistently is prone to more turnovers. A player frequently slashing to the rim to create openings for his teammates is pressuring his turnover rise while a player who throws the ball to his post player sits back. PER is identified as the king of statistics and yet obviously flawed. There is no accounting for the difference in player style. A player who creates his own shot versus a catch and shoot individual. The ability to stifle defences with stylish skills to manoeuvre around collapsing the staggering adversary for an open teammate is unrecorded. The effectiveness is ignored in the metric. The advanced categories attempt to make up behind the scenes but riddled with framing narration. The inconclusive affiliation undervalues defence and overvalues scoring based on the data scientist.

Box scores cannot numerically measure the influence a player has on the court. A prominent player double teamed enables open opportunities for teammates without ever adding a number to the box score. He may not even touch the ball and still deal decisive damage. The basketball term for this type of ability is called off-ball movement. While a shooter will juke his defender to make space for an open jumper a big man will post up his defender creating space to receive the ball down low for a layup. Both of these scenarios are looking to catch the ball and score, stats that will come up on the box score. Yet it is the scrappy run around that is even more effective. A player watched extensively draws defensive focus. As he twirls around the court the defence scared of his skill will continue to monitor him, gradually losing sight of other players. More concentration is deployed to keep up with the increased mobility of the single target losing other players to oblivion. Sharp cuts, screens and other breathtaking swift movements force defensive reaction deceptively keeping the prospected player in view by abandoning his teammate. Such artistry easily goes unnoticed without the numerical achievement but is not lost to the viewer.

Stooped in numbers also misses the entire point. Recognising greatness but numbers devalues the game routine. Watching a college basketball game answers this inquiry. The players, though inferior to their professional counterparts, have stats spread around the board. The game is orchestrated by team offence. It is not a one man offence with minimal players accumulating stats. The game is fluid and organic. The norms are embedded and while advances have been made there is still a traditional method playing according to structural hierarchies. It is till positional basketball. Yet beyond this professionally archaic model, it denotes a valuational goal. The hope is not statistical inflation but winning. School pride and success. Older players who do not possess the same statistical quantity may not have been chasing it just as certain categories were not tracked until later on. Take an example of a player driving in passing to a teammate who passes to a further teammate. The driver does not receive any stat. Point being the necessity of gathering numbers is almost insufficient. One person running the show or facilitating the offence was either inefficient or unacceptable.

Cross-generational variance is an extensive equation but it also eclipses the methodological procedure. If the entire model is valued differently, then the product will have a different result. The measure of a good player depends on the frame he is situated in. Playing under certain criteria may enhance one’s stats or may wallow them. In both cases he may assist in the team’s victory without touching the ball most of the game. The current discussion is caught up in the factual data. This is something to revere and internalise but is not the end all and be all of a player’s influence nor talent. The best way is to watch them play. While it may not be easy to attain film on older figures, enough change has occurred in the past decades to watch an 80s match up between Magic and Bird to evaluate with Kobe and LeBron. Watching their play styles and excellence in their language games is the best model. The illustration, the full body examination over the bullet pointed postulates is the totality of their game.

Ew Otherness

By: Jonathan Seidel

Otherness as a symptom of chaotic disorder

Humans have a history of hunting one another. Unable to deal with the grave difference emerging from varying opinions. While the human nature argument is usually defined in this sense as ethnocentric certainty, it also possible there is more a tangible merit than an abstract generalisation. Control is manipulated for order more than superiority complexes.

Routine brings comfort. Consistency habituates the self to the accumulated norm. The routine offers orderly fashion and the correct method of expression. Falling in line under the code of social acceptance. The master ethic acknowledges the hierarchical system. In order to maintain tranquility, uniformity is required. No room for otherness. That which does not appeal to the accepted norm misfires as a threat to the sacred peace. Hierarchy establishes a top-down refined matrix. Bottlenecking the public into a monolithic outlook that is necessary to thrive. This top-down organismic construction is not necessarily an oppressive intent but an ideological preservation. Those may go hand in hand but the order is sought for all the people even at the bottom half. Fearful tactics are promoted to ensure this and passive routine culminates in the sheep aimlessly wandering after the shepherd.

While the hierarchy generates inequality it is to maintain social stature and control. The selfish ideological push creates an in-group and an out-group. An out-group is a priorly invested group with unaligned beliefs. Much at peace with their status, their difference is marked as dangerous. A threat to the order. Their difference may spark questioning and rebellion. They must be ousted to preserve the current order. Hierarchical establishments through ideological or practical means seek to ensure control that becomes routine. In time, the unilateral inequality is seen as normal. The questioners, the ponderers are rebels. Seeking to do away with the peace of the system. Order must be maintained without others present demystifying the classical system.

Control is manifested from top till bottom. The ability to retain a systematic operation must be honed by participation. Groups must accept their place in the pecking order. They must position themselves in the organic layout under representation. Yet the system can only operate smoothly if all are in line. There are no exceptions to their organismic framework. Openly masquerading against the grain is an offence to the hierarchical peace. The master ethic is exposed to insurgents. These insurgents are violently urging the disavowal of the system. The state must take charge to eradicate this poison before it affects anyone else. The poison is an ideological difference manifesting in a divergent reaction. This is a weak effort to poke the bear. Yet, with enough exposure will topple the mighty beast. These individuals hold to these beliefs ever so tightly. They cannot be swayed and their exile is imminent. Their cancerous influence is voided by the state’s security policy.

Objects are identified as manageable ticketed. Objects can be controlled in their right. While they may emerge from varied areas of the world. This otherness is minute to the sentient spatiality. Inventions even diseases can be conquered and mixed to personal ability. The lack of mindfulness of the object magnifies the capability to consume as much object otherness in the world. Playing with these forces as they cannot wilfully object to experimentation or sale. They are the possession of the the owner. Their lack of intelligence and discord forcibly undercut their difference. It is obvious to us but remains a controlled substance. An early reluctance to the newfound substance is quickly conquered when its maximum capability is realised and amassed.

Concerning sentient beings whether animals or children, there is resistance but domestication is a motor of control. The otherness of habitation is bringing animals or raising children in a privatised environment. A hierarchical society whereby the continued living of these organisms is dependent on their allegiance. Dogs who act out are put down and children who shout back at their parents are put in timeout. In the home, there is a hierarchy where the parent demands action from the child or the pet and they must oblige. The intimacy created from extensive  experiences unravels with a mistake. The house rules are obligatory. A child who breaks curfew will be punished and forgiven in the long run. As an extension of the parents there is an empathy passing on but not the same for students and teachers. The hierarchy does not contain the natural biological intimacy. Empathy is neither built nor a given. More time is spent apart so a few wrong moves and patience is gone with a suspension looming for the distraught student.

Wrestling with considerable care is consequently avoiding competent callousness. Those differing will become bugs in the overall array of disgruntling youths aiming to undermine the hierarchical mastery. The impending danger arising from the conflicting visions impairs the looking glass. Sheer clarity is muddled with grease and stains. No longer the shiny cup. Cleansing the grease is the sole way to reuse the glass in its finest aura. The cleaner grabs the glass with his hands and with a soapy sponge pecks away at the grease erasing it from existence. The grease is unable to evade the cleansing and disappears. There is little resistance. Absolute control and force applied with zero reluctance. Though people cannot be silenced so easily. Those making a ruckus must be exiled to maintain the social peace. Their voices must be drowned out. Yet shutting them up is easier said than done. Removing them from the spatial equation removes the threat from exposing the issue and the hierarchy retains its hold.

Even passivity calls into question. The voice is not necessarily a verbal assault but an external supplication. Crossdressing is a fashion choice but a public statement nonetheless. Demonstrating the crude appearance exposes the public to a rude awakening. Words are not the sole violent attack on the public forum. A presentation halts its unique enterprise. Actions are varied whether by clothing, marching or striking. Retorts come in all shapes and sizes. Yet it is less the direct assault and more the insidious indirect action that stirs the most mischievous conflict. Acting differently to the norm is an unintentional unharmed expression. Yet it marks the master ethic with abuse. Contrary to the hierarchical institutionalism is an affront to the orderly framework. It is a matter of great hostility by the perceiver. Outlandish actions can be mimicked and lead to disarray. Children can be influenced into such futile behaviour. An ingenious though insidious proposal.

Unable to control such persons, their actions deemed unwarranted and corruptible are removed from the equation. Seen as a threat they are induced to another region. Extermination by means of exile or death. They cannot be controlled nor monitored sufficiently. Permitting their private correspondence may leak into the public circle. Catching a whiff of this stretch may cause the poison to spread and create newly embodied zombies. The extermination squad is called to remove this skank. The state takes responsibility to ensure the protection its citizens. Pests cannot be reasoned with. Their beliefs are central to their identity. This identity is foreign to the foretold framework. Placing the citizenry in a frenzy of apocalyptic level destruction. A rallying cry against the satanic invasion of lustful insurgency. An uncontrollable substance passing through the air with intangible cessation.

Disconcerting uncontrollable aspects are fearfully eerie. Incapable of meshing with the monistic framework constructed extinguishment becomes a necessary evil. The foreigner cannot be compelled beyond reasonable doubt. Various tactics have attempted to subdue otherness. Enslavement, exile and extermination are the most effective. Yet each had their flaws. Enslavement marks the other as inferior to control their difference as futile. Yet long term can backfire either through a revolt, sympathy or mere influence. Exile rids the issue but their absence does not mean their influence is gone. Tales of their heroics or returning as traders empowers their status. Extermination seemingly is the chief of eliminating entirely. There is no return from death nor real sympathy after death. Yet the hastening of said extreme measure raises self doubt and internal revolt. Rebels emerge from within the system. While slavery and exile are moral ills, genocide his different. Ridding an other must be highly specific strategised and cunningly executed.

An otherness plague may compel national self interest but the other rallies itself so long as it internally exposes its will. The other martyred continuity is criminally inspirational. While the state wishes to quash disorder, overreaction can lead to pushback. The state acting for the people’s interest may not be interpreted along the same lines. The inability to control otherness sparks mayhem, its ferocious reaction undermines its goal. Unsung heroes emerge from the shadows. Providing safe haven for the other. The excess is too much to bear and they act against the order as well. Cracking the battered walls. The hierarchical order itself is no longer impenetrable. Unable to control its own citizenry otherness prevails even in death. Defiance and guilt overwhelm the system’s credibility.

Noble as it may to maintain a specific aura, it does not hold up in the longing fortitude. Control is a measuring ideal. Desiring singularity is a hope not a reality. Otherness will march forth and repulsion will erupt. An incidental yet intentional correspondence. A method of deep entrenchment. Otherness is inevitable, response is not uniform. Phobia will exhibit chaotic overtones. Disallowing any further variance.

Free Puppets

Commodification: the need to control—from humans to objects

Consumerism is not a modern concept for humanity but is for the average individual. The Industrial Revolution and technological advancements placed the citizenry in the valve for enjoying life’s materialism. Yet the materialistic drive is age old for the rich and elite. While these riches came in many forms from lands to jewels the most notorious was humanity. Objectifying people as slaves is best known. Today workers are subjected to inhumane measures. Yet the greatest hierarchical challenge is top-down residue of slavish ownership.

Slavery creates an inferior decadence. Slaves ere treated as cattle. Though not every slave owner was a monster, subjugating other person to property demonises their esteem to exist. Property with little autonomy or liberty. It was a complete objectification of humanity. They were no longer human in their libertarian sense. No rights no automatic groundwork. A debt to an owner with unilateral power.

The slavish personification was felt by women in their inferior position. Children also were slavish in a sense to their families. Both groups were denied the individual gratification. Instead nested by societal folklore. Responsibility is important but so is freedom. A balance must be struck but depriving individuals of basic choice. A slave to the system at large. Born into societal roles with little transcendence. While there is not necessary an issue with destiny, there is when others take advantage of their roles. Determined roles is gruesome when those placed in other roles place their role as the superior aspect. Using their privilege to discount the other. Whether it be a king, a business man or a parent. Positions of power are inevitable in ownership societies. Someone needs to be in charge and direct. Yet it is the misuse of power for personal gain that dismantles the concern. Children are to be taken care of as a responsibility given their immaturity yet treating them as an object only destroys their childhood.

Mental fortitude is the measure of ethical relation. Placement is ever necessary but the vertical or horizontal axis is entirely arbitrary. The governmental apparatus is ideally horizontal but is realistically vertical. Its mission of representation is reconciled as authority. Democracy has constructed an order that works for the people and yet that does not occur. Governmental officials have placed themselves on pedestals with their own interests in mind. Even on behalf of the people they do what they believe is correct. The system is corrupt as it objectifies the people as something to control and needy maidens. The down-up revolutionary paradigm is an illusion. Perfected on paper but undermined practically. Their authoritarian presentation in positions of power apparently reconciles as a spectacle. The arrogance of an obvious choice is merely a privilege. A gift by the people. Chosen means accepted not subjugated.

The same routine is placed. Abolishing a practice does not erase the vice completely. A new target is selected to keep the fire alive. Slavery was ended and yet torturous conditions for workers persisted. With every polemic to overcome a hurdle progression has been made. Worker’s rights have long been increased and are continuously evolving. Yet this is not true of the governments’ power. Their promise to protect and care only gives them more power. They are a devilish spouse. Deceiving the people into conditioning dependence.

Youthful Nostalgia

Adult animation: violence and mature rhetoric with childish emasculation

Animation has been a staple for children. Speaking to a younger audience still growing in their younger years and playing along with the fictional characters. Children distinguish between the cartoon characters and the real people. The fake out was a distraction from the real world. Television shows were mainly guided to children to pass the time. Much of the detached parenting was hustled by consuming television programming. The cartoon generation grew up and continued to watch television. Thinking on their feet creators began making real-life content which spoiled into children programs as well. Real life plots are a sign of maturity and age. Cartoons are childish.

Ironically, even today most cartoons are sit-coms while the action oriented are real life. People who watch anime whether for the Japanese or the hero’s journey thrillers are full force programs not satirical projects. Even children today perceive cartoons as an obvious fiction for laughs not to engage with the story. Think of the episodic features of the sit-coms in contrast to the anime stories. Yet the action centre is becoming more embroiled today with dramas like BoJack, Harley Quinn, Final Space. Yet all ensure comedic ties to not forget its satirical origin. The action though a centrepiece of the show is placed on the outskirts. The jokes are at the front and said aloud with audience applause. A time to be a child again. To enjoy the fiction but with reservation. Not to enjoy too much.

Boomerang plays old cartoons from The Flintstones to Ritchie Rich. Shows designed for children. Even the Simpsons was a family show. The adult target was only necessary with television’s continued success. For much of the programs real characters were played alongside series lines. Thinking of shows in the 80s like M.A.S.H, Cheers, A-Team were real shows with enduring plots. Children who grew up with cartoons became more obsessed with their jargon. Cartoon lovers feeling childish would watch Scooby Doo or other old television programs. Enjoying the shows from their youth lacked the mature content but were compelling. There was an enjoyment so shows like Harvey Birdman were made to appeal to these audiences. The early adult cartoons remained in the mature atmosphere without the indulging content. Only later in the decade did Family Guy and South Park become staples of adult content. Satirical, political and sexual. Playing on their teenage carnality.

A new age has blossomed to facilitate an enjoyable evening of classical satire. Comedic for the couple to feel childish with more mature nature. Fictional enjoyment in the merit of desired plot lines. The former geek culture of pictured comic books are beloved by the mainstream. Even making animated superhero films with gore and sex. Following a growing young crowd pursuing this genre despite their old age. Comic books are not in but comic book adaptions are. Cinema makes the story alive showing the fictional progression in real time. A desired motive by fans. Yet this medium is less mainstream than the Netflix crowd. Even anime is becoming more mainstream with Netflix having an extended category for countless shows. While Dragon Ball is an old classic, newer creations are also becoming relevant for younger viewers.

Stigmas are falling off. It is no longer weird to watch cartoons so long as you are watching an accepted cartoonish program. Even BoJack raises criticism but many for its fictional construction. There is a difference between Family Guy and BoJack. The former is all satirical with little serial characterisation. Serial shows are real life dramas. Watching seventy seasons of General Hospital, thirty seasons of Law & Order or seventeen seasons of Grey’s Anatomy. These serial shows follow character’s but replace and change up over time. A funny example of this is Doctor Who which has run for so many years serially but changing doctors and thus plot lines. Continuous programs make new content with new seasons focusing on a new theme. Much reputation but with new focuses.

The animated universe has yet to reach this point with the exception of BoJack and Final Space. New shows are attempting to create serial animations. Rick and Morty does this very well. While it is action related with much satire the show runners explicitly mock its construction. Harmon constantly directs the main character Rick to indirectly break the fourth wall to tease the episodic and serial relation. The cartoon is designed for more mature audiences at the same time mocks the audience and social trends of the time. It shows cartoons for what they are as fictional messages instead of the show themselves. Adults are unable or unwilling to see cartoons as children see them. Children are not decoding metaphors but enjoying the experience. Lost in the show. Adults are seeking messages that are openly comedically displayed to them. The satire is described while in BoJack it intentionally devised to enjoy the character’s growth. Still there is resistance to not only do so but to even accept it.

Anime is far from acceptance. Its longstanding creation has enabled fans to balance the show’s experience with its themes. Anime is intentionally heroic and valuational. Shows like Naruto and Full-Metal Alchemist are hero’s journey personified with powerful themes and yet censored by American stations for more childish audiences. Driving anime devoid of its full extent only delivers it further to children. The stories remain timeless. Even if projected to children, the messaging is timeless. Sexual innuendos are not necessary to make a good show. Just as books are timeless like reading To Kill a Mockingbird or even Harry Potter. Blending the nature finds enduring enjoyment. The foreignness plus the animation hurts its mainstream appeal but the growing animated concern furthers its gradual acceptance. Finding an ally in Final Space. Unlike BoJack, Final Space stays away from sexual innuendos and mature exclusivity. Not only is it not a sit-com but it is also complex for teen audiences. Hilarity is a part of television but the full extent of animated thrillers is still far fetched.

Uniquely Archer and Harley Quinn both provide necessary action. To meet the adult fascination it follows with the consistent themes. There is a lot of adventure and serial nature especially with Archer. The comedic element is at its core though. Final Space avoids many of the classic comedic tropes for a full action flick. Netflix has begun to engage in supplying vast adult animated series recently. The widely praised Arcane and Castlevania. Recently a show called Cyberpunk 2077 made its debut. On Amazon Prime, Invincible and Vox Machina have had quite a luring effect. Ironically all of these are based fictional programming. The Netflix ones are correlated with notable streaming games and the Amazon prime are comic book and voice actor streaming. Each due play into adult themes. the comic book setting adds the gore to stabilise its motif with adults. The others seem to represent a thrilling crowd who adore their childish adaptations. Castlevania games were hot in the 90s and 2000s for young adults to fancy and the others are games that young adults enjoy today. Final Space seems to lack much of the adult impression and yet still finds its wake amongst them but the new syllabus is stretching into recognising the niche for adults. Do adults need the sex, gore and language? Maybe. If not then it is just anime (even if its not an adaption).

Adult animation is a mix bag with emotional resistance to the fictional adaptation on screen. Moving in a positive direction. Even making children’s shows more mature. The Clone Wars television show had many pitfalls in the childish content. A blend is brewing. It is a matter of time. Anime is currently ahead of the curve with shows like Cowboy Bebop and Attack on Titan but suffers from other matrices. Waves are advancing and time will tell but adults will always wish to be children once again.

Seeing Sex Signs

By: Jonathan Seidel

Media and hyper-sexuality

In the intro to Family Guy, Lois sings violence and movies and sex on tv. While media  has gradually incorporated more sexual themes and sex scenes into cinema the media erotica goes back generations. Yet today it differs heavily in access, availability and attention.

Erotica novella, prostitution and other sexual themes have been a mainstay for a long time. What hasn’t is the in your face sexual innuendos and what could be termed as sexual culture. Sexual beings need not be embodied with sexual magnification. Sex is much what is talked about. Whether positive or not, gossip hinges on the sexual and impure. Access is a button away. Able to click to the nearest porn site, hookup app, or stare at the bare-naked ladies walking on the street. Sexuality is no longer  concealed but exploited. It is no longer promiscuous in paying for a prostitute. Brothel visits were a part of kingdoms but it was a place to visit just as a strip club is a location one must travel to. With the latter, the choreographic fantasy is limited. Though a public display, the girls are theatrical actors for customers. To enjoy the almost close up appreciation. Though porn is acted, it is a virtual visualisation of private stimulation. Porn is an indirect unconnected virtual addictive stimulant. Yet is also a theatrical act to garner attention.

While the theatrical side is conducive but not inclusive, clubs and apps enable pairings by the erotica in the enclosed space. Cinema portrays the sexual themes instilling teenage promiscuity to viewers influence yet it is the availability by joining a certain circle to engage in these acts. The internet has opened the possibility to find eager individuals on the other side whether it be sexual gratification figuratively or physically. It is not a perfect picture but the exposure is in the limelight. Able to find an excess of desirable content. Print media displayed sexual themes but pales in comparison quantitatively and qualitatively. There is just so much out there from cam girls to pornos to hookups waiting to happen. There is much out there to gratify oneself and seek pleasure. It is not hiding. A click of a button and potentially a few bucks and wallah so much sexual content to choose from. The pick of the litter only heightens the measure of possibilities expanding by the years. Soon virtual reality will create something like a virtual girlfriend to seduce.

Many different angles providing similar themes. Porn gives the virtual sex, television provides the mature sexual story and hookups are the realistic engagement. This all calls to attention. It’s a reality check bombarded with sexual content from all over in different quantity. Whether explicit or allegorical, the innuendoes are frequent. All this is technological evaporation. The growing fascination in such culture is dabbled by any virtual search. the television trope isn’t even intentional at times. It is impeded in the genre. The former are searching site. One is seeking a desired result but television is just a part of the plot. Attention is fired upon even indirectly to prey upon the individual. Wish for some sexual gratification the options are at your fingertip. Aren’t thinking about well it will be thrown in your face anyways.

Cinema is placed in the spotlight of realistic mimicking. Even letting go of television cannot escape the outside domain. The promiscuous dress, music and gossip is itself a relational episode. Much of the sexual banter is not only in enclosed places like nightclubs. While it may labor more results per capita, it is in the street that the urge generates into an offer. Chatting with little clothing inspired by a certain show with sexual innuendos metaphorically bouncing off each other’s sides. Even in an unintentional approach, sexual pressure may emerge in the mind. Not because of any biological findings but the neurological import of the sexual themes. Two people together alone the dark at night, it must lead to something. Talking intimately or aroused feelings are to be acted upon. Meeting an individual to satisfy needs. Where does this need derive from. It’s not out of thin air nor biologically innate. Its physiological. Corruptible television creates the hormonal instinct.

Relational integrity is altered by preconceived beliefs. Many beliefs though believed to primitive are actually carnal associations from habituated cinematic content. The encounter is modified entrusting an external influence as a personal guide. To move to a log cabin in the woods away from all the advertising would be to nearly purify oneself. There may be a primitive biological element but the cinematic advertising would be quite null. One's libido wouldn't cease but reduced heavily. Social abandonment is needlessly not always active repression but passive acceptance. Sexuality is haywire and surrounding at every stage. It is discussed on various platforms. Listening to the consistent discussion fills the routine.
